No matter how insignificant you may feel the lie is, a lie is a lie! If you want to build a trusting relationship with your lover, friend, employer, anyone-don't tell lies. No matter how big or small, a lie can destroy whatever meaningful relationships you have. If you are caught in a lie, accept ownership of it and respect that the other person is not going to be able to trust that you are going to be truthful when they ask you something. It may take a long, long while to rebuild that trust. If you feel the relationship is worth fighting for, hang in there and never, ever lie again.
