to get a girl to smile is more timing then it is simplicity. Being random in a bad time wont really help you, but taking her out and just casualy talking to her, add something totaly off subject to the conversation and just smile and look at her. most of the time this works, it requires a good sense of humor and a good idea of what her intrests are...you dont want to say something stupid that offends her in any way...or just tickle her that usualy seems to work...
