Do you go out regularly with a group of friends to relax and unwind? What type of place do you go to for that?

I try to go out once a week here with some girl friends, usually to a bar for a few beers. I can't afford to eat out, so a couple of cheap beers seems to work for me. Once a week seems to fill my need for socializing, and being at a bar provides an 'activity'.

I have my Flagstaff buddy for more fun adventures. If gas wasn't so expensive, I would go up there more, but he is my favorite person to spend time with. Often we just hang out in his cabin in the evening and dance to youtube videos, with the wood stove burning, and go for hikes when it isn't snowing.

What about you, Lisa?

That sounds fantastic Jilly! It's wonderful that you have people you enjoy doing things with. The dancing sounds great!

I have a monthly dinner with friends who all own their own small business. We are all in the tech field so it's great to discuss issues and plan solutions. Each of us has a different area we pay attention to so I learn a ton at each meeting about Google changes and so on.

I have a separate monthly dinner with a writing group I run, where we discuss creative topics.

Other than that I occasionally go out with a random friend to catch up in a particular area. But that's not too often - I have so much I'm juggling right now that I barely leave the house. I come down to my computer, sit here until it's night, watch a few episodes of Spenser with Bob, then go to sleep again. I try to get some yoga in there somewhere. And school starts up next Monday, so time will get even tighter again.

Still, I do have at least 2 nights a month, so that's good.

That's good. Those meetings sound nice. Do you meet at your place, or switch around houses, or meet at restaurant? Something else?

And you do live with Bob, so there is a built-in companion there too, even if you do not more than watch a show on TV.

This is your last semester at school, right?

Dear Jilly -

We always eat at a restaurant. That way nobody has to clean.

Yes Bob and I do interact occasionally wink He talks slightly more than the cat does.

This is currently the winter session. Then I have three classes in the spring session, and I am done.

It is so great that you have local friends. Think back to when you thought you'd never find any! Life is working out well for you.

Yes, I am endlessly thankful to have local friends now. Even though I am moving away, which seems ironic. But I feel good about leaving.

In yuma, I think i already have friends set up - there is an outdoor meetup club, and they checked into my background and already made me an organizer. ha! I found that amusing. I don't particularly like organizing events for others, but i welcome their way of welcoming me.

How amazing to be on your last semester. This seemed like such a far away goal for you, not long ago.

Dear Jilly -

It is wonderful that you have friends where you are and friends where you are going to. You are creating happy pockets of friendliness!

It's great that you appreciate their effort to include you, and also know that organizing just isn't what you want to do. You can participate in other ways!

I was thinking this week about how much I enjoy my monthly night out with my friends. I made sure my vacation time worked around it, so I wouldn't have to miss them. It's a renewal of my spirit to spend quiet quality time with them.
