I have these four vitamin bottles lined up. I can unscrew the caps and recycle them. But I would rather find reuses.
I am looking for ideas. I already have qtips, spices and thumbtacks stored in some from before.
I am also going to take a trip to Chicago soon so many i can use some to transport toiletries.
Any ideas on uses for these very nice little, see-through containers of various size?

We always use those for screws and bolts and all those random little things. But I suppose at some point everything is in something ...

It always seems like a pity to just recycle perfectly good watertight bottles without giving a go at what else I can use them for.
Maybe I could use them while painting. If I mix a good color, i can just seal it up and continue to use that color next time (so it won't dry out) I could even put a dab on the outside so i know what color it contains.
We also started using them for coins, Pennies, dimes, nickles and quarters in their own bottles, and kept in the car for laundry runs/toll roads/filling water bottles.
In my travel bag I have qtips in the small ones, cotton balls in the woder ones, toothpaste squirted into one, liquid soap in the baby-seal ones and even mouthwash in one.
I will keep plugging away. :-)
When I do end up with more bottles than I can use, I put them in a large ziplock, write craft supplies on the bag with a sharpie, and give the bags to Goodwill.
I make sure to take off prescription stickers first, unless they are simply vitamin bottles.

I keep change in my prescription bottles. I have so many of them! Every day I put my loose change in them and someday when I'm broke, I have money. It always happens, lol.
Jilly are you sure you can take those little bottles with stuff in them on a plane? Or did I miss understand and you're not going on a plane?

I put all my change into a bin in my car - I don't care any on me at all or have any in the house. Then when we need to stop at a fast food restaurant for some reason I try to use up a pile of the change. I don't pay the whole bill in change But I do give them some of it and actually they usually need change so it works out well for them too.

Dinah, they can go in the checked in baggage. :-) Yes, i will be in Chicago for a week or so this month. I am very excited.
Since I am flying out of San Diego - and am in AZ - I will have extra travel days for driving there and back. It's all coming up soon!
Another thing that can be done with the meds bottles is using them to store jewelry.

It just hit me that I could paint or decorate the bottles in some way, and use them in my home or sell them.

Seeds. Next year when I start my heirloom garden I can store the dried seeds in the bottles and just label them with a Sharpie. I bet i can save all my bottles and still need more!

Newest idea for my Reuse area: I have a bin where I am storing my empty meds and vitamin bottles. My reuse area is starting to become very exciting. I am gathering old icky tables and putting my storage bins on them to keep them off the ground and at hand-height. Have a lot of ideas for my resuse area. RIght now it's a lean to shed - a large one. With a tin roof, wood beams and dusty dirt floor. But collecting really cruddy desks and tables for this area has been genius.

Jilly - maybe you could enjoy the painting as a creative process and then sell them on Fiver for people to use as portable pill carriers! Or vitamin carriers ... lots of purposes. I bet people would love them!
Just do it as the mood hits you, as a fun mini painting project. That way it's not stressful and you know it will help others!

Seeds!! Now that's a GREAT idea. Each year when my husband gets in his shipment of seeds for the garden he just leaves the unused seeds in their little packet and the puts that back into the container they were shipped in - inevitably I pick up that container and the seeds spill everywhere because they little packets don't stay closed. I'll definitely have to use them as containers for his seeds next year!! Tying a string around my finger so I'll remember

Yes, and the seeds also dry up and go off, when left in the opened packets. I waste a lot of seeds that way. The resealable containers would be much better. Good tip!

Someone posted in freecycle they are seeking spice jars. I mentioned to them they could have by bin of medicine bottles if they don't get any actual spice jars. We will see if they reply.
Maybe I should just offer them on FC anyway.

I heard back and the guy got some actual spice jar offers. he thanked me anyway.
I now have three kinds of seeds to place in my meds jars! Yucca, prickly pear and hungarian cucumber. Can't wait to put them in there, mark them with a sharpie, and line them up for springtime.
I also found a tree with peppercorns on it that I will fill a jar with next!
