My philosophy has always been to put lots of time between when I "like somebody" (and they like me,) and when I'll "go out with somebody." Usually after a month or so, interest just dies, or I find something about that person which would've just driven me crazy, and so in the long run things seemed to work out better.
I know there are many who would disagree with me on this, but just throwing it out there.
