How do I show my feelings for "My Friend"

I Love this girl but we have been friends for a long time.I notice other affection from her and she recently ask me a question that I pondered on. She ask me when was the last time I had sex. I told her and I ask the same thing. She said it was close to a year. How do I show my feelings for "My Friend" so that we can both be better off as a couple? By us going together we can jeapordize our friend relationship and this also affect our closest friends. Help! There is so much to say to you guys but I don't want to write a novel so please advise.
