Crushes don't last yrs do they?

I'm a 19 yr old male, I've known this girl(whose my age) since i was 13 yrs old. the very first time i saw her i fell in love with her. I was very shy to even talk to her and the only form of contact with her was just a smile or two during recess. I tried many ridiculous things just to get her attention from rigging the Valentine's Day flower delivery list so tht all the flowers would go to her only and to reading the entire collection of her favorite book the SweetValley High series just so we'd have some common ground(btw tht series was so sappy u'd think it was written by a bunch of evolutionary rejects) But she just pretends as though nothing happend.Months past after tht and i managed to finnally talk to her and be one of her friends but then as time past she became different. Online, she'd be friendly at times and at other times, she ignores me. The same with e-mails as well, she'll be very frendly and sometimes sugggestive and at other times she'd just say hey and not mail or reply to anything for weeks on end. Sometimes i don't know whts going on in her mind. I try so hard to read her, i even told her tht she seems distant at times so she'd at least gimme a chance to figure her out, but she responded with a "Oh,im...sorry," and continued... We went out once, it took me quite a lot of build-up of courage to even get to tht... I read through countless books and online tips to make a gud impression on her but i sorta forgot everythin the minute i saw her... she makes me so weak, whenever i'm around her. i feel like an idiot at times. I asked once if she'd ever consider a relationship with me, she said she wasn't ready for one.i respected tht and agreed to jsut stay freinds. but 4 days after tht, she had a new boyfriend. her friends praise her everytime she manages to get a guy. ever since the date, we've just been friends, which i now know is such a hard thing to do. i can't get her out of my mind. deep in the corner of my mind i still think she might like me beyond a friend.im not sure if anything now.is this a crush?(crushes don't last yrs do they?), or is there something more. should i get closer to her? or just stay away?..at this point, i want her outta my head or in my arms...either is gud enough for me. i just want stop feeling so stupid about myself.pls help.

It seems you have done everything you can to attract this girl.
It is now time to let her go and find someone new. You don't seem to be as much in love with her as obsessed with her. You are too old to be hanging onto an old crush.
Be adventurous and ask some other girls out. There are many girls who are dreaming of getting asked out. Give it a try.
