Forget him or waste the rest of my life waiting for him?

Im in love with i guy i didnt date for too long and we had a bad break up but after that we became friends again, when he found out i wanted him back he liked the idea at first but then friends of his started talking shit to him for wanting me back. After that he sorta walked himself right out of my life and i wanted him back in it. Now a year later my best friend and him just recently started talking and i found out that at first he wanted nothing to do with me and since my friend talked to him now he wants to be friends but only friends, he knows how i feel about him but should i just forget about it and move on or waste my life waiting for him?

You might as well be friends with him.
This will give him the chance to change his mind again and start to care for you. Of course, as you said, it might just be a waste of time.
So don't give him a long time to make up his mind, because you will just suffer more that way.
