How do I start a very small business (maybe home business) and get the support I need

I LOST MY JOB AND IT REALLY HURTS!

Hiya,

I am in my job 2 years now and have been told that we are being made redundant, we are starting to build our house in the next few weeks and are getting married in 2007 so I am gobsmacked, I knew that I would have no job after awhile as we all knew we were being let go -but what I didn't know is that it would be 2days before christmas. :-(

I talk to my fiance alot about this because it is upsetting me and he assures me that everything will be fine and I can look for a job after christmas. :-) bless him!

Anyway I am only 21 but I would really really love to start my own business, I know what I want to do and what I am good at and that is personalised invitations and greeting cards but I really haven't a clue where to start and am very nervous that people might think I am stupid for even trying.

My question (to make a very long story short) is how would I go about doing this? How do I start a very small business (maybe home business) and get the support I need.
