my x and i split up due to his x-wife coming back into the picture after 12 yrs. we had a great relationship. but we split up and she is now living with him. I WANT HIM BACK!!!
his kids still keep in contact with me even after almost 1 1/2 years.

Just keep yourself in the picture and he won't forget about you.

If his kids like you, he will too. But, the pull of his ex may be too strong to overcome his liking for you.

Don't do anything dramatic since that will just drive him away.
