Shyness can be overcome by bravery or practice.

Practice first by talking to him a lot. Start off by always greeting him in a clear voice, saying "Hi" plus his name and give him a big smile. Eventually you will be asking each other how they are doing and then more conversation after that.

This will build up your bravery. If you can be brave now, just ask him out. He will probably be delighted to have a girl interested in him. Many boys are shyer than you are and they just need a little boost to get them going.
