I think we are really over...I just don't want to be hurt anymore

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Female
I broke up with my boyfriend of 2.5 years a month and a half ago...I went away to college and we are 6 hourse apart. He is a marine, and I wasn't sure if I could handle any more distance, it had hurt me too badly. We both still love eachother a lot. I was thinking about trying to get back with him, because I realized how much I miss him and thought it would be worth it. When we saw eachother I had some family issues with my brother being in the hospital and he was with me the whole way through. Then we slept together and totally fell back in love. Then a week and a half later when I told him that I thought I wanted to be with him again he told me he was dating someone else...this killed me. I didn't know what to do, I still don't. He told me he thought we were ment for eachother but he needed to see other people, but he still wanted to be my best friend. I told him that I couldn't handle just being friends and now I feel completely alone and worthless. I am trying to move on but I just don't know how. How do I say goodbye to someone I really thought was the love of my life? Please help me with anything, I just want to be happy again. I think we are really over...I just don't want to be hurt anymore. What can I do?
