What can I do do get closer to her

I have this friend who I really care about and I told her I had feelings for her. I really need to know if there is a chance for us to be together. She is currently involved with someone. Would she have told me she liked me when I told her even tho she has a bf. She did say it was better I told her. Does this mean she knows I'm here and we can go out if things don't work out with her current bf. What can I do do get closer to her so she trusts me so we can start dating is her bf doesn't work out?
