Any tips to help me FINALLY get over the pain my ex caused?

My ex and I were together for about a year and a half. For the last month of the relationship, he had another girlfriend. He was my first for basically everything..including my first love. We have been apart for well over 3 or 4 years.. but the way he hurt me I've never really gotten over. Sometimes just thinking about it makes me want to cry. I have had other relationships since, and am currently in a 2 year one. Any tips to help me FINALLY get over the pain my ex caused?

He is young and immature. Forgive him because he really didn't know what he was doing.
Whenever thoughts of him come up, just say to yourself "I forgive him for being so young and causing me pain." After you say that many times, the hurt will go away.
