My boyfriend just broke up with me a week ago. We had been together for 4 1/2 years

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Female
My boyfriend just broke up with me a week ago. We had been together for 4 1/2 years. But the thing is, he is 20 and i'm 19. We started going out when i was a freshman in high school, i was 14. He was my first serious boyfriend and I was his first girlfriend ever. We had so much in common, his sister died a year before we met and my dad had died when i was younger. It gave us many things to talk about and many times to be there for each other. We had so many happy times and very few bad times. We were together every single day of those 4 1/2 years and I think that would be the problem. He is the sweetest, nicest guy you would ever meet and I still feel that way. He didn't break up with me on bad terms, and he said I couldn't be out of his life so he wanted to be friends. In the last week we have still hung out & sometimes he acts like he likes me, he will hug and kiss me, but other days he doesnt really want to talk to me. I don't know if it's because he is confused or what. He says he loves me as a person but he's not IN love with me. But I always saw us together forever, and we actually use to talk about it. I know we are both so very young, but I never knew something could be so difficult. I've read lots of places to let them realize what they had and what they've lost after it's gone, but i'm scared that if I let loose, he won't realize it and he'll be gone for good. There are so many girls that like him so i'm scared that he'll fall for one of them. I guess I just don't know what to do or even think. Do you have any advice? Please help!

RomanceClass.com Advice
My advice is to cool it for another two weeks. You can't make any rational decision about something that happened one week ago.

Take advantage of his desire to be friends and give him all the support you can give him. Make sure he knows that you still love him. He will recognize how difficult it is for you to let him go his way. But you have to make sure that he knows you still love and want him.

I hope he comes to his senses and realizes what he is about to thrown away and that he will come back to you soon!

Good luck.
George
