I was at a party on the weekend, sat down chatting with mates, this girl comes over and puts her number in my phone, Does this mean she is interested and wants to go out with me?

At age 14 don't expect a lot out of yourself.

You are perfectly normal in being shy and many of the girls are also. But it is time to start learning to talk with girls and feel comfortable with them. The way to do that is by practicing. Sure you will make mistakes and so forth but just ignore them and slowly build up your skills. The important thing is to keep trying and don't give up. Be brave!

The girl who gave you her number wants you to call her. Here is a perfect chance for you to practice. You can even tell her you are shy and thank her for giving you her number. Have a few things to talk about and be prepared to continue the conversation. It isn't enough to just have a question, you need to imagine what she will say and then be ready to continue.
