when I said something even slightly negative about her my husband would get very protective over her

Visitor's Question from a 31-40 year old Female
I am in a happy married relationship and I trust my husband. However, he has a female friend who I am very jealous of. She is beautiful and he seems to be very fond of her. Sometimes my husband and I happen to talk about this girlfriend, and when I said something even slightly negative about her (sometimes I don't even think it's a negative comment), my husband would get very protective over her. And I don't like it.

The thing is I know there is nothing going on. I just want to know why my husband behaves this way, and how I could control my jealousy?

RomanceClass.com Advice
He gets protective because he thinks you are trying to cut him off from his friend.

You seem to accepting of the relationship in general but have some jealousy issues. And, you say you trust him.

The best way to deal with jealousy is to attack it straight on. If a jealous though arises, just tell it to go away, that your husband loves you and you trust him. Do this 100 or so times and eventually the jealous feelings will go away and leave you alone.

Hope this works out well for you!
