so me and this girl are best friends, im best friends with her cousin and close with her family, shes told her aunt she finds me attractive, has thought about kissing me,but doesnt want anything to happen because shes afraid that if she did hurt me shed be losing a good friend, she flirts nonstop and teases me. Im going to the prom with her as "friends", she knows how i feel about her, we make eye contact all the time and stare into each others eyes for about 15 seconds all the time. she called me up a few weeks ago and said she had to talk to me, i found out from her friends she wants to talk about us just "being friends", but she hasnt brought up the subject yet, her boyfriend brokeup with her about 4 months ago and shes been jumping between guys ever since, but she never makes it into a relationship, she says she wont go out with any of her cousins friends(that would be me), but yet her ex boyfriend was her cousins best friends and now they dont even talk
i dont want to give up because i love this girl to death and i could see this relationship could last for a long time and i know she likes me but i cant figure out what shes afraid of and how to change it

Let her know how much you feel about her and that you would like to give your relationship a chance to grow more than best friends. If you keep on going the way you are going, you may destroy your best friend relationship because you are denying what you really want.
