Should I Buy a Valentine's Day Gift?

This girl and her boyfriend broke up recently after 4 years, we are friends and she knows that I do care. I will give her time but What I want to know is that should I buy a valentines gift or is it too soon. I haven't told her how I truly feel about her, will buying a her a gift ruin everything. I know that she still has feelings for him but that she doesn't want to be with him anymore

Even people who are just friends buy each other Valentine's Day gifts. I would of course vote for MAKING her a gift and not buying it, because a handmade gift is so, so much better than some trinket off a shelf. So I'd give her a gift out of friendship that really shows you know about her and care. I'm sure she will be happy to know you are thinking about her as a friend.
