We're Both Shy - How do we Go Out?

Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old Female
I HAVE BEEN FRIENDS WITH THIS GUY FOR ABOUT 8 MONTHS NOW. FOR THE PAST 4 MONTHS WE HAVE GOTTEN CLOSER. HE GIVES ME ALL THE SIGNS THAT HE LIKES ME AND I DO THE SAME BUT WE ARE BOTH VERY SHY. A COUPLE DAYS AGO WE GOT ON THE SUBJECT OF VALENTINES DAY- WE TALKED ABOUT BROKEN RELATIONSHIPS THAT WE BOTH HAVE HAD IN THE PAST AND WE WOULD LIKE TO START A NEW ONE.

AGAIN SINCE WE BOTH ARE VERY SHY I DON'T KNOW WHAT APPROACH I SHOULD TAKE. WE BOTH HAVE REALLY COME CLOSE TO ASKING EACH OTHER OUT. WE SEE EACH OTHER ALMOST EVERYDAY BECAUSE WE WORK TOGETHER(PEOPLE AT WORK ARE ASKING IF WE LIKE EACH OTHER)! PLEASE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE ON WHAT I SHOULD DO.

It sounds like you're on a very good path with this guy - you're taking it slow, you're getting to be good friends, to enjoy each other's company and talking with each other. Since Valentine's Day is coming, I'd take this opportunity to invite him out to dinner as a friend. The next time you see him, say that you're not doing anything for Valentine's Day, and would he like to grab dinner with you so you both don't spend it alone? That way there's not pressure to be lovey-dovey, but you get to spend a romantic night with him and have fun. You can even make it sort of a fun thing, that you're not really dating but just having fun together. So you can be campy-romantic and grandiose. That can be quite fun in itself!
