No chance for communications

I'm 14 yrs old freshman. I like this girl who is on my bus and is in one of my classes. I've known her since I was in 5th grade but never talked to her. She is a pretty popular girl and I'm not a popular guy. I think she might have the idea that I like her, but she doesn't seem to like me. I say bye to her everyday she's on the bus and she says bye to me and my friends but I think she is only trying to be nice. If I try actually talking to her and screw it up I might never have the chance again. She sits on the other side of the room in the class we have together next to all her friends, and in the back of the bus while I sit towards the front. How can I become friends with her.

The best way is to ask her for her phone number so you can chat together that way. If you can't do that in person, write her a note and give it to her either in class or on the bus. Say you are interested in talking with her and wonder what her phone number is.

Don't be shy about this, nothing ventured nothing gained as the old saying goes.
