My dad just started dating this girl who has a son that's one year older than me. Our parents got this idea that he should go to my prom, since I need a date. He said he'd go with me, but I have to ask him. But I've only met him once, and we barely even talked! I think he's really cute and everything, but I'm really shy. How should I ask him, and what should I say?

Everyone is shy some of the time. Shyness is like sunshine on snow... after a while of working on your shyness it disappears.

So consider this a step towards losing your shyness. Call him up and say "are you ok about going to the prom with me." Once he says yes, then figure out who can drive and what time you have to get home. Then say "Great, see you then."
