Dating and going out

Hi. I'am a 9th grader, and I was just wondering if it's ok to not be "going out" with someone, but be able to go on dates with them and stuff like that? Some people would call you a slut for doing that in my school, but I think it's just what the more mature type of person would do...I mean..when you get older, you don't ask people to "go out" with you..you just ask them on dates..right?

You can go on dates and just be friends; or, you can go on dates and call it "going out." There is nothing slutty about going out with someone. You should do your own thing and not worry what others might say about it. You seem to have good judgement, that is why I give you this advice.
