Stay friends

Hey there. So I have alittle problem that I need help fixing with. I'm in love with my best guy friend and he's currently dating someone right now. (FYI: my friend and I never dated but we've done everything that you would in a relationship...hung out...went to the movies...family stuff....hooked up....went out to eat....etc) Anyways, what I'm wondering is that its been really hard for me to move on and except that he has this girlfriend now (who I might add is waaay younger then him). But I think what my problem is, is that I've lost my priority status with him and I can't recalibrate it to 'just friends' mode. So now I don't know if I'm suppose to call him when something happens in my life that I use to share with him all the time or just hold back and use restraint? What do you think? Thanks a bunch!!
