Old friend

i am a 16 yr old boy and i have a close friend before... also a 16 yr old boy... well he got to another section because there was a policy in school to have a resectioning every yr... we were friends since grade4 now we are in 3rd yr highschool... i never really got to talk to him since 2nd yr for it was when we were resectioned... before, we had sleepovers and he used to call me... one more thing we used to have the same crush on this girl... he took the first move... well that girl is no more... i wish to return to the "old" us... do you think there is a need to tell him? or is it a good idea to tell him?
