My 'Best Friend' was talking to this girl...

My "best friend" was talking to this girl who told me she wasnt interested in him and was into me instead....He saw her maybe 4 times and never did anything more than kiss....My question is, is it okay for me to talk to this girl, and is it okay for him to ask me not to talk to her even though he only saw her a few times?
