i dont know maybe im just overreacting, but i need to figure out what i should do

Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old Female
June 16, 2004
I've known this guy for about 4 years now. We just started going out June 2, 2004. I had just broken up with my bf whom i was with for a year and 7 months, but this guy made me get over him really quick. At first we were always doing stuff together, and we were like best friends. But these last few days its been wierd. I know I should give it time because maybe something is bothering him but i dont want to have to wait and see. I like him alot, weve both liked each other the whole time we were friends. He's leaving for the Navy Nov 8, 2004...im very scared about that. he said we will work out because i can move over where he is after i graduate, id do it but i dont really think he wants that. Im scared to talk to him because he always says im just freaking out over nothing, and i dont want him to say maybe we should break up, because i really like him. a couple weeks ago i flipped out because he was talking to his ex who he still has feelings for, he said i needed to get over my jealousy stage and grow up. we almost broke up that nite, well we were broken up for like 20 minutes, and i kept crying and telling him i didnt want to. he goes i dont want to at all either, and he goes i just keep thinking of how jealous you are, and of the Navy. i was like ive told u i was worried about the Navy and you said not to worry about it, but somehow we ended up back together like an hour after we were talking about it. Everytime i call him hes tired, or he thinks of an excuse to get off the phone, it seems like hes going distant, and im trying to think of how to tell im, i dont want to bug him by wanting to see me everyday, but i like to see him everyday. at least for a little bit. i dont know maybe im just overreacting, but i need to figure out what i should do, please help me!!!

RomanceClass.com Advice
The key to any relationship is communication. Without communication, you can't have trust or faith or commitment. You need to be able to be honest and open with him about how you're feeling and what is going on between the two of you. If he can't do that, then you need to look at the relationship and see if it's good enough or whether you should find someone who -can- give you what you need in a relationship.

However, You've only been going out with him for 16 days, right? Give it a chance to grow. Don't expect too much of him just yet, you two are just now figuring out how to handle each other as boyfriend/girlfriend. That takes some time. Don't worry about the future, it will take care of itself. Just enjoy each other and the time you have with each other for now.

Good luck!
