It's VERY common for you to be shy with someone that you want to impress. It's very easy to talk to a casual friend or a family member. If you say something wrong, so what? They will still be your friend. But if you're talking to a girl that you are trying to impress, suddenly you can be very nervous. You worry if you say the wrong thing that she'll go away and you'll lose your chance to date her. So now you are very quiet and afraid to talk.

It's all in your head. If this girl likes you, she will like you THE WAY YOU ARE which means as a normal person that makes mistakes. So what if you say something silly? Most girls like a guy with a bit of silliness in them. Girls don't want to date a guy that is putting on an act. They want to date a real human being that likes them. So show her you're a friend that she can rely on and trust, that is being honest and true. That's what she will appreciate.
