when a boy says he dont like you how do you know hes not saying that because of his friends?

The question is if you were standing in front of his friends and went up to him and asked, "Do You Like Me???" in a loud voice! If you put someone on the spot, who knows how they will respond. But if you actually did this in a quiet way, asking him when you two were alone, then he probably answered honestly.
The most important thing to ever have in ANY relationship - whether it's friendship, love or anything else in between - is trust and honesty. If you can't even trust what he says directly to you, then it's not going to work. Someone capable of lying to your face about something important is not someone to spend ANY time with.
