I'm Tall and He is Short

Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old Female
i have a really embarrassing question that you may think is really stupid but i'll ask it anyway.

I'm really, really tall and my boyfriend is not! In fact he's quite short. I know this shouldn't matter and i try so hard to not let it affect me but it does. I really love him and i'm scared that my insecurities will effect our relationship. What should i do??

No question is a stupid question :) Definitely I've been in the exact same situation you are in now. Maybe in ancient times guys were always taller than girls, but in modern times MANY girls are taller than guys are. It's because we all eat more healthy food and take better care of ourselves. Also, women nowadays tend to wear 'tall shoes' so even if they are shorter normally, they are taller when they put shoes on.

So if you look at couples in the news, actually MANY girls are taller than their guys if only because of those heels! It's a VERY normal thing. I could easily name for you 20 or 30 couples that are famous where the girl is taller. You see them all the time on the news. You might just not notice it because it's so normal. But it might be harder when it's you personally in the situation.

If it helps, I would go around the web and print out photos of all the couples that have a taller woman. Hang them on your wall as a constant reminder that these couples are happy and normal. Don't slouch or try to "act short" - that only makes it worse. Be proud of what you are, and be proud of what he is. We're all different shapes, sizes and colors. That you two are happy together is the only important thing that matters.
