This guy is DEFINITELY on the rebound. That is a huge danger sign! It's fine to flirt with him and be friends, but he still isn't free of his ex. He is going back and forth about how he feels. This is something he has to sort out for himself, on his own. I have all sorts of rebound advice on the site and many people have written in for advice on dealing with rebound. I would really read through it.

In essence, if you try to force him to choose quickly and make a decision, he will always blame you for rushing him. And if he did end up with you, as soon as you had troubles he would run back to her because she would be the 'woman you stole him from'. So HE has to decide on his own that he is really over her and ready to date again.
