Getting Closer to a Neighbor

Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old Female
iv liked my neighbor now for about 4 years on and off, we used to always get rides from eachother but never really talked that much. But last year,my freshman year, he had a class with me and was assigned to sit right next to me...he always tried getting my attention and tried to put me in his groups but i would always reject. At that point i didnt really like him... that was the OFF period,i really was stupid for that.

Since know we r older and he has his drivers license, we stopped talking again. But i realized that i really like him alot...my friend thinks im in love with him. But i dont know wat to do because i dont want anything to get weird and ruin our 5 year relationship..i dont have a clue wat to do....

people tell me that i should just smile as much as possible when i pass him in the halls and see if he smiles back....but im really confused....PLEASE HELP....i havent done anything in 5 years.....
