She Doesn't Want to Lose my Friendship

Visitor's Question from a 21-30 year old Male
I am 27 years old and a girl I like is 20. I liked her the first day I saw her. I didn't want to come on real strong about it so I started just hanging out and going to movies and stuff. We became really close friends.

Everything was going perfect. One night I just decided to tell her how I feel. It didn't shock her. She said that she liked me when we first met also.

Then she turned around and said but I cant date you because we are good friends and she did not wan't to loose me as a friend. She said that if we were not so close she would have already been my girlfriend...I am totally confused about this.
