I Want More from my Male Friend

I have a friend who I have started to like in the past few months, but I don't really know what to think about the situation. We talk a couple of times a week and we hang out about every other week. The problem is that I just can't get myself to tell him I like him because I have a fear of rejection and I don't want to make things weird. I think he knows I like him because he asked a friend of mine if I did once, but that's it. He flirts with my friends often which hurts me so I'm trying to figure out what to do. Do you have any advice?
