He Broke Up with Me - and Immediately Went Out with Her
Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old Female
My exboyfriend just broke up with me on Saturday night, and then 5 minutes later he started going out with one of my best friends. I knew that she liked him and that he liked her, but gosh couldn't they have waited? It's really made me mad, I haven't talked to either of them. I dunno what to say and I'm afraid I'd start cussing them out.
I just can't believe my friend would do that and I can't believe my exboyfriend would do that either, I mean me and him were extremly close and went out for a long time. We had each others first real kiss and a lot of other special times. Then boom he breaks up with me then goes out with one of my best friends.
I still miss him, and for some reason still have hope that maybe someday we'll go back out. What should I do? Please help me!
I know you say you two were really close - but it sounds like your relationship was really missing out in communication!! He was so unhappy that he wanted to break up with you - but the only reason you knew about it was that he was ready to jump into another woman's arms? He didn't tell you he was unhappy with something so you could work it out together? You didn't realize he was unhappy at all, to help find a solution?
It's very normal for friends to date other friends exs. These are the people that have things in common with you, they are the people you spend your time with. So that part is normal. But the part of this that is strange is that you two never even discussed that things weren't going well, to find solutions. You didn't talk about any problems or try to find ways to fix them. He just found someone new and went off with her.
I would really look to find someone else that is much better at communicating - and this time really make sure that YOU talk to him a lot about how you feel and about he feels. I have a feeling that this ex boyfriend of yours won't last long with his new girlfriend, given how he has proven himself to be a 'jumper' so far.
