Pet Names
Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old Female This may sound like a silly question, but how can I transition into calling my boyfriend a pet name? When we first got together he was shy about that stuff I eventually got used to the idea of not having pet names. Now, I want to change that.
RomanceClass.com Advice The only silly question is an unasked question! We all have things we want to know and things we have trouble with. Pet names are a way to make your relationship more "intimate" by calling each other names that others don't use. It's like calling a guy "Robert!" or "Bobby ..." - they have completely different feelings to them.
So choose a time that you ARE being close an intimate - snuggling on the couch, resting your head on his shoulder while you drive somewhere. And then just sigh happily, "Oh, pookie ..." as a sign of your complete contentment. You're not saying it TO him, you're just SAYING it.
You don't want to be calling him this name 24 hours a day! It's a special name for special moments.
