how do I proceed from facebook to real life 2

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Male
Hi, it's me again. I've been maintaining my facebook correspondence with the girl I'm in love with, and I am meeting her in just a few days. I can't wait, because not a moment passes when I don't dream of her. I've concluded that she is definitely everything I am looking for in a girl. intelligent, beautiful, humorous but also serious, hardworking, ambitious, moral, lively, and not at all into drugs, alcohol or partying. Her birthday is coming up in October, and I was thinking of what I should get her. Since it's her first birthday when I can get her something, should I just give her a card or something more, like a book, chocolate, or something else? Fortunately, my school has planned out entire months of activities for freshmen to get them used to college, and I hope to use these opportunities to bond with her and get aquainted with her, then tell her how I feel. What should the exact words I use be? I'm trying to come up with something more elegant and substantial than "I cherish our friendship, but I am developing feelings for you, and I was wondering if you would like to start going out as a couple." Do you have any suggestions?

Another question that came to my mind was gossip. Supposing we do become a couple, the last thing I want is to become a subject of gossip among the student body. I think this may be likely because of our different races (i am of Asian descent, and she is white). Is gossip an inevitable byproduct of any relationship, or can it be avoided? What are some ways to deal with gossip? Thanks for all your help.

RomanceClass.com Advice
Congratulations on your success with her and I hope your upcoming meeting will be awesome. She sounds like a very nice person.

For her birthday, maybe a card, a box of dark chocolates, and a single pink rose--her intellect, her body, and her heart :)

Don't wait too long before asking her out. Late September or early October at the latest. The words you chose are good but you would be lying if you said you were only developing feelings since you already have. So fancy that up a little and you will be fine. If things are going well, she will say yes in any case.

You will be gossip only because everyone gossips and everyone gossips about everyone else. Your ethic backgrounds shouldn't be a problem. Just ignore gossip if you come across it or laugh at it.

Good luck! George
