Should I tell her?Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Male
I'm really good friends with this girl who I like, and I want to tell her I like her because I've kept it to myself for a long time now but I'm not sure whether to tell her cos firstly I'm too shy when it comes to relationships and it makes me worry what she will think of me if I tell her, also two of her closest male friends, who have both dated her already still like her and this causes problems for her because she doesn't want to hurt one of them by going out with the other, so it is quite complicated and I'm unsure whether to tell her how I feel cos it could make the situation worse for her and I don't want that and I don't want to seem like all the other guys who like her, so I don't know whether to tell her soon with or wait and I don't want to let it pass because I know I will regret letting it pass
Learning to overcome shyness and talk with girls is like building up any other part of you. It takes time and practice. Just like a sport, classwork, music, or other things, you have to work at it over and over until you feel strong and comfortable enough to participate.
There is an old saying "Faint heart never won fair lady." This means that if you are shy and have no guts, you will not get the girl you want. Each girl you want seems like the best in the world, but get over that. There are probably 100 or so girls in your school that you could be happy with. Take them one at a time and practice your courting skills. Eventually you will find the right one. The sooner you start the better. You don't want to be in college and still be shy.
You won't have regrets if you at least try to get what you want. If you don't succeed the first time, there are plenty more chances.
Good luck! George
