he says he misses me and wishes things had turned out different

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Female
when he first broke up with me, he told me he did it because he couldn't give me the time i deserved. a few weeks later, he tells me he broke up with me because he didn't love me and only liked me, but that he wanted to stay friends. he still talked to me, but at some point started texting me when he was drunk, saying how lonely and miserable he was. well, a few days ago, he called and we got to talking and he said he misses me and wishes things could have turned out different. he gives me another reason he broke up with me, saying it was because i wasn't "free enough with myself." he was always a very composed person, so i toned down how i acted. i was never fake though. and i told him this.
what's his problem? i even texted him the next day, saying that if he missed me and wished things had been different, why can't we try again? he hasn't talked to me since.
i'm just at the point that i don't know what to do even though i still miss him and want him back.

RomanceClass.com Advice
Perhaps I misunderstand the situation. You said that he thinks you are not "free enough with myself." So then you "toned down how I acted." To me this sounds like you did the opposite of what he wanted. My guess is that when a guy say a girl isn't "free enough" he means she is not sexually open. Like I said, perhaps this is a misunderstanding.

In any case, you have pursued this as far as you can. It is up to him to make a choice and stick to it. Maybe he has talked to you since and everything is ok. I certainly hope so.

Good luck! George
