Am I too up tight?

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Female
I'm 16, he's 17. I've started going out with him for almost 2 months. Things are great and all but he always ignores what I say. He shouldn't be driving be he does it anyways. Not only that, drunk driving and driving when he's high. I didn't drink or do weed, now in his presense it's changing. Not only that, he's comming on to me too early. He already tried to have sex, not that that's wrong or anything but like, ugh, I don't know what to do.

He's doing all the wrong things and dragging you into it.

Drinking and doing weed is illegal at your age and getting caught by the police or your parents is just no fun at all. An accident could paralyze you, kill you, disfigure you or simply break a few bones and create ugly scars.

You know all this but feel you can't do anything about it. You really can, though. It takes guts and letting go which is not easy. Give him some rules to follow: no driving while intoxicated and no weed at all. You might not think of it now, but having a police record can stay with you the rest of your life. And, killing someone else in an accident will not only cause major legal problems but will definitely haunt you for the rest of your life.

Finally, your boyfriend should respect your feelings about sex. If he doesn't, it means he doesn't respect you. Respect is one of the most important aspects of a good relationship.

Sorry about the preaching, but I have friends who have run into these problems and it's not a pretty picture.

Good luck! George

p.s. you are not too up tight, you are being sensible. Good for you!
