long distance and feelings

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Male
hey. so im in college and there is this girl who i started talking to in early october. she gave me her phone number and we have talked quite a bit and eventually we went out to lunch(i paid but she drove because i dont have a car). its weird though, when she went home over thanksgiving break she seemed distracted when we text and also so far during winter break she has done the same thing. i like her and want to talk to her but i dont want to seem like i need to talk to her even though i want to and enjoy when we do. i was wondering what would be the happy median in texting her like what would be too much where i would seem needy but i dont want to seem like im not interested.

also one of my good friends is friends with her as well and he asked her what she thought of me. she said i was nice and that she didnt really know me that well. he then asked her if she would need to get to know me better to think of me as more than a friend. she said that she really never thought of me that way. i was wondering what this could mean if its more like it has never crossed my mind or a i would never want to think of him like that.
thanks!

I would think texting her every other day would not be too much unless you get the feeling that it is.

Regarding her feelings as she told them to your friend: I don't think she is ruling you out, just saying that she never thought of you that way.

Good luck! George
