I Want to be Friends Again

I have (well, had) a great guy friend, really my first good guy friend in middle school. We've hung out outside of school, talked on the phone for hours and had some pretty awesome times. But about a month ago, a good girl friend of his started spreading rumors that I have a crush on him. I do, but from the start I knew I wanted to be just friends, since he means so much to me. Anyways, since she started spreading the rumors, he's become more and more distant. The calls, time together and emails have totally stopped, and this week, he didn't talk to me at all! I want my friend back! Please help me.

Write him an email and tell him that you do like him but the most important thing is friendship. Ask if you could hang out again but just as friends.
He probably really misses you and is confused about all the rumors.
