I like this girl but she has a boyfriend

hmm...well i guess ill start with the fact that i met this girl about 6months ago and at the time i really didnt kno her but i knew her friend really well and and iasked her friend for her screename and when i got it she was taken and i like her a lot but i guess im her friend now because we talk almost everyday, but i really want to date her and i dont know what to do about her boyfriend. Should i wait or out compete him or what?

In fact, try to become her best friend. Do this by being communicative, compassionate, and affectionate.

Be honest with her that you have feelings for her but that you don't think it right to compete with an existing boyfriend. If she tires of him, you will be there waiting and there is nothing wrong with that.

In other words, you will be sort of competing without really competing.
