How to ask

Hi, I am 18 years old and I want to ask out this girl in my school, but I'm not sure the best way to that. I read the section on "asking somone out" but I still have a few questions. I know it's better to ask her in person, but I'm not sure what to say. I want a date with just her but is it better to hang out at the mall first with some friends, or would a movie be better with just her and I. I also thought about getting her a flower the day I ask but would that be too much? Obviously I not sure what she will say but would any of this helpThanks for answering my questions.
