Continue dating?

I have been seeing a guy for a few dates and the stragest thing has happened. I haven't seen him for 2 weeks but he continues to text me everyday, lovely messages asking about my day etc. He said that he has been sick for the last two weekends, but what I think is really happening is that he is bored or has gone off me and is waiting for me to push the issue so he can get off the hook. I think I should ask him if he wants to do something this weekend and if he says no then I guess I will have my answer. What would your advice be? Should I let him come to me and hang in there? or should I walk away with my head held high?
