Teacher

Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old Female
Hi. I Just need advice on this situation. I'm 14 and I have the hugest crush ever on one of my teachers ( male ). I've never had a crush this big. Every time i see him i get butterflies and everything like that. I can't even speak to him in class because I always feel stupid. Now, I know that I could never ever have a relationship or anything with him, even if he did like me back, because he's in his forties, married with kids, and it's illegal. I know all that. I don't need to be told not to flirt or expect anything here. I just would like to know how to deal with the situation at the moment and to get some hints & tips on anything that might help me to get over him quicker. Thanks.

It isn't unusual at all for students to get crushes on their teachers. It can start as early as your age or as late as college. Patients get crushes on their doctors or psychologists too.

You are wise to recognize that it is a crush and not going anywhere. One way to get over a crush is to enjoy it. As strange as it seems, sometimes that will gradually make the crush go away. Just keep telling yourself that it is a crush so you don't confuse it with anything with a future.

Meanwhile, look around at boys your age and practice your flirting and other social skills which you should be doing at your age. If you are already at ease with boys then great, but if you are shy then make it a goal to say hi to a new boy every day. Be careful because they may crush on you and maybe you aren't ready. Life is a blast... enjoy it :)

Good luck! George
