Is he a jerk?

I was best friends with this guy a year ago, and we used to hang out all the time. I thought he liked me because he hung out with me and my friends instead of his girlfriend. They broke up though after about a month. He also told me everything. He always walked me home after school, and teachers would yell at us for flirting too much. That was in 8th grade. 9th grade we were in the same class, but we barely talked. Then one day we got into a huge fight over something he said. He said I was stupid, jokingly, but I took it too seriously and he got mad at me for never getting his jokes. Then we just stopped talking, even though I said sorry to him a million times.
10th grade, I wanted to make it up to him, so I made him a christmas card, and I put it on his front porch, because he lives down the street, but he never wrote back, but I also don't know if he got it. Also, we haven't talked for a year, but there are many more stories.
