Should he have told me how he felt?

I sent a message on myspace to the guy that I like I said,''I really have to tell you something but I don't know how your going to take it.''so he says, what is it and I finally told him that I like him he never replies the message back and im kind of hurt right now! We talk when were at school he actually listens when I tell him things,but he's also popular,and I have a great amount of friends in school to.Im a big girl and im thinking he dosen't like me because of my size or because of his reputation and what people may think if we were together but now that he knows that I like him I can't show face around him no more because imma feel embarrass.So now imma have to start ducking and dodging him. Should he have told me how he felt? im very confused I don't know what to think or what to say, please help me out!!!

He was probably taken by surprise and didn't know how to answer.
The answer would have been "I like you as a friend, but not more."
Try not to be embarrassed, it only complicates things. Say hi like you usually do.
