is there hope for us to be together?

Hi. My ex and I broke just recently. At this times he thinks it's best for us to be friends although is not ok with this idea. He honestly told me what bothers him. His ex-gilrfriend, my guess, is trying to get back to his life. according to him, he is actually oppossed to this idea, but he doesn't know what to do. They have a history together that I will never understand. he says he is not rejecting me, and he doesn't eliminate the idea of us being together. He feels really comfortable around me or so he says. We still see each other pretty often, cooking dinners together, watching movies, hanging out just the two of us, but there is nothing but a hug good night. What should I do? Is there hope for us to be together? Or will his ex be always there?

It's too early to say since you just broke up recently.
You are still getting along well together so there is good hope that things will turn out ok for you.
My advice is to keep doing what you have been doing with him since it is going so well. It is doubtful that his ex will always be there in my opinion. She is old history.
