Getting Closer to a Girl

Hi, I need some help. Evers since about a few weeks ago I can't get this certain girl out of my mind. She broke up with her boyfriend and I'm not sure if she still wants him or not (but that isn't a part of my question). I met her this year during the start of high school and she seems perfect for me. But I'm just too shy to want to say anything to her or do anything with her. We are pretty good friends and we talk a lot during school, but when it comes to online messaging or whatever, I just run out of things to talk about. If you could give me some tips on maybe talking in general, and getting over my shyness, that would be pretty awesome.
